KM2146 Aspen with Paintbrush

When not looking for flowers I find the aspen such a joy to paint. This is a little summer scene with the fabulous bright red Indian Paintbrush that are such a beautiful spice to this scene.

KM2145 Window Shopping

SOLD

I thought I'd take a break from my Playa pictures and do a small street scene from my Paris pictures. The rain had just stopped leaving wonderful reflections in the wet sidewalks. It was October and the sun came in and out of the rain showers. My arm got worn out pulling the camera in and out from under my coat to keep it dry but I had to be quick as the conditions changed so fast.

SOLD

I love the way cats and dogs join in when dining out in places I travel to outside of our country! This little kitty gave up on getting any stray tidbits from our table where we were dining and laid down next to us and nodded off. I guess that is the true meaning of the phrase "Cat Nap"!!!!!

What a scene, the brightly colored swimming towels drying on the rail of the thatched roof hut! How could I resist. Obviously I am still in Playa del Carmen having a ball putting all the great imagery to canvas!

KM2140 Beachcombing

SOLD

If it isn't obvious yet, I am totally drawn to the beach. I can stare for hours watching the tide come in or go out while the waves wash upon the shore with the wet sand filled with its surrounding colors or refection of the skies. I was as drawn to these colorful thached huts on the beach. Of course, I am still referring to Playa. It is fun to get to paint so many pictures from a trip with these little ones, a luxury I don't often indulge in with so many other paintings calling to be done!

KM2139 Drenched in Sunshine

SOLD

I rarely paint a still life, but I couldn't resist this one. These bowls of fruit and avocados were on a sill where we entered a wonderful open air restaurant in Playa del Carmen a few weeks ago. What could be more visually stimulating and imagine what it did for the appetite!!! Here in a natural setting was a composition I would never have imagined to set up nor would I ever find the perfect lighting that was in this scene.

KM2137 Along the Beach

At last, I am back to the studio and getting caught up on my daily paintings as well as all my other paintings for my galleries. I had a wonderful relaxing time in Mexico, Playa del Carmen, where this scene came from. It was exquisitely beautiful, and doing justice to the white beaches, turquoise waters and last remaining thatched huts is a challenge.
With all my painting that I need to do for my galleries I will probably be posting every other day for awhile.
Enjoy!!!

KM2136 The Observer

SOLD

I have returned from a wonderful trip to Mexico where I did mostly.... nothing. It was a trip of walking, swimming, reading, eating, drinking and sleeping. Oh, I did manage to get a few photos as well, so I will be starting on those next week. Look for some beautiful new paintings inspired from that trip!
Meanwhile, this little guy was done before I left. I am having a great time doing these little bird paintings as I find reference for them. They are a challenge to photograph as they are so busy and never stay in one place for long.

KM2135 Ahh Spring

SOLD

Here in Colorado we have only been teased with spring this year. The other day, in between winds and rain and cold we had a perfect spring day with the sun and great temperatures when I was told about these incredible tulips that were in perfect late day light showing off the beautiful orange, tangerine and yellow colors that I have never seen before in tulips!

SOLD

I am having a great time painting subjects other than landscapes and florals. It is great to expand my horizons and of course anything in the animal world is a passion for me. Birds are such a wonderful part of our world, seemingly so free in flight and and their songs in the spring are like a symphony on my walks.

KM2126 Storm is Brewing

SOLD

I did this painting as a study for a larger piece for Sacred Dancing Gallery where I show in Bigfork, Montana. The scene is outside of Crested Butte on Kebler Pass in July. One of our typical afternoon Colorado storms was moving in and lighting up the hillside which was contrasted by the ominous, dark gray,blue/violet clouds. I'll be posting the larger one I did on my website next week.

I forgot to photograph this painting before varnishing it, so there is a bit of a sheen on it from the light reflecting off the varnish. Got ahead of myself!!!

This rich scene was painted from one of hundreds of pictures I took of this incredible garden found here in Denver last spring. It was a spectacle of oranges, purples greens in the form of poppies, iris and Queen Ann's Lace. I met the lady who has had the garden for many years and love the wildnesss of it. It has a lifetime of compositions to paint! Look for more to come in the future.

KM2114 Sunshine on My Shoulders

SOLD

I seem to be hung up on song titles and John Denver's song, Sunshine on my Shoulders keeps playing in my head. I guess I am ready to be done with winter and have some spring days with no wind, and sun shining on me in 70 degree temps. This sunlit path makes me feel the summer warmth. I did this landscape from a photo taken at our Denver Botanic Gardens late last summer. It was one of those perfect Colorado Days my mother used to refer to as "Champaign Days"
