KM2455 Afternoon Glow (urban, landscape, oil painting, China)

I have been busy getting ready for our upcoming show at Brushstrokes and while organizing my painting area I found this little plein air piece I painted last fall in China. It was a small village outside of Li Jiang, one of my favorite places we visited. This scene was painted in the late afternoon after taking a burro ride around the village.

KMD2436 Gentle Gaze (animal, cow, calf)

SOLD
I had to go all the way to China to find this fellow! He was in the courtyard of a villager in a small village outside of LiJiang. The whole family was working doing many daily chores like chopping wood, processing grains, feeding their cows and chickens. They were kind enough to allow us into their "backyard" to share a bit of their lives with us.

KMD2427 Hen in Turquoise (Chickens, hens, landscape, China, animals)

I found this scene while on my trip to China in the ancient village of Zhouzhuang, an ancient water city that is called the “Venice of China”.
We spent over 3 hours in this amazing village with a plethora of painting and photographic subject matter. My travel companion Pat was amazed at how many pictures I shot of this one scene with roosters and hens, but the light was perfect and I had to get every angle!
Although hens and roosters aren't my usual fare, when I saw this hen surrounded by the colorful background I had to put it on canvas!

KM2418 Mama's Little Helper (children, China, oil painting)

I had such fun painting this little Chinese girl who was helping her Mom with the daily chores. They were cutting and cleaning vegetables and so engrossed that this little one hardly noticed the sound of cameras firing off all around her from all the artists and photographers in our tour group. Although she sat on her haunches to help, I'm happy to report that her Mom was sitting in a chair! I can't wait to look through my reference for more of the children to paint. Doing some figurative work is a fun, new experience for me.

This painting is for sale in the 19th Annual Holiday Miniatures Show at Abend Gallery here in Denver and is sized 10"x8".

KMD2416 This Little Piggy (original animal oil painting)

We found this cute little piglet with his siblings while venturing around the outlying villages of LiJiang on my China tour. All the other piglets were shy and ran out of sight while I photographed this fellow. It was amazing morning light that lit up his pink ears!

KM2405 Black Dragon Lake (Plein Air painting, China)

Here is the 2nd of the plein air paintings I did in China. This is probably my favorite and it was painted as I was succumbing to the 24 hour virus that flew through the group of 18 that I traveled with!
This great scene was walking distance to the village of Li Jiang that was one of my favorite stops on our trip.
I am madly painting for our upcoming show at Brushstrokes Studio opening on November 6. I am having so much fun with all the incredible new subject matter from China.

SOLD
