I have photographed this scene many times while visiting Crested Butte, Colorado during the wildflower season in July. It is one of the most spectacular areas in Colorado where the hills are literally seas of color. I don't know why I have waited so long to paint this particular shot since I have stopped at this same sight every year to capture it with my camera. Finally, I have interpreted it on canvas!

As I am getting back to doing the smaller daily paintings I am going through my plethora of photographs from years past. There are so many fun paintings to be done from all the travels I have photographed that it is hard to choose. As spring seems so late this year I am sure I responded to the intense color and beauty of this scene near Gothic outside of Crested Butte during the wildflower season. Sometimes I wonder if anyone who has not seen this scene can believe it is really this colorful, but indeed it is.

It is magnificent and hard to believe the feast before your eyes see in the varieties of flowers, colors and subjects to photograph and paint. Wow, I have not been posting for a few months! Moving Brushstrokes and settling into our magnificent new space has consumed me for longer than I thought. I have been painting commissions, for the upcoming Colorado Governor's Show and for my new gallery, Courtyard Gallery in Michigan.
I am looking forward to creating some of my daily paintings but meanwhile I thought I would post my latest that I have painted for our new space. This is a scene from Crested Butte when the wildflowers are in full bloom. An amazing array of color and beauty.
