ONLINE ART MARKET OPEN

I am excited to announce that I have added a special new category to my online art sales:
BIN ART $200 and less.

This bin of unframed studies/paintings for $200 and less is offered as a celebration of my 30-plus years as an artist/painter.
My studio is now overrun with an accumulation of these smaller original gems that deserve to be enjoyed and grace your walls.
Each is an expression of my energy and passion throughout my painting journey.
This comes just in time for the holidays and will be ongoing until I have made room for some very exciting new art explorations and experiments.
It is my hope that you will continue to follow me on my art journey and enjoy all the new ideas currently floating around my head that I am so excited to put on canvas.
Click here to go directly to BIN ART and see what is in the bin this month.

Feel free to pass on this news to your friends and stay tuned for news as I amp up my digital presence in the new year!

KMD3071 Pink Poppies by Colorado Contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7 oil pink poppy garden)

SOLD

Poppies still remain one of my most favorite flowers to paint. I came across these on an early morning walk last month with my dog Farley who impatiently waited as I photographed them. (He has much different preferences on our walks!)
There is nothing more invigorating than the cool, fresh spring and summer mornings with dew on all the new flowers and the abundance of new life everywhere. I think spring is my most favorite season, followed by fall which is reflected in so much of my work.

KM2984 Paradise Revisited by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (16x8, oil, floral, garden, poppy)

Here is a return to the past as I still love painting poppies. I thought a tall vertical would be a fun composition. It was painted for my recent solo show at Brushstrokes Studio. I enjoyed revisiting an old friend in the form of a local Denver garden reference that I never tire of painting from.

KMD2945 Untamed by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (5x7 original oil, garden landscape, poppies, floral)

SOLD

Surprise, another poppy painting from a favorite garden here in Denver, Colorado that I found several years ago. I love the light and wildness to the garden which grows with no real plan creating a multitude of exciting compositions which I never tire of.

KM2863 Enchanted Path by Denver, Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (30x40 oil landscape)

This painting is of a scene from a late summer day at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Denver, CO. It was painted for the upcoming Colorado Governor's Invitational Art Show and Sale that opens on April 27, 2013. This is a fabulous show that I am proud to be invited to participate in. This is my 11th year with this show.

KMD2826 Springtime Bounty (6x6, original oil, floral, poppy painting) by Kit Hevron Mahoney

SOLD
I seem to be on a roll creating these little poppy paintings. They are such a delight to create and take my focus to a bright, colorful and cheery place away from all the news we are inundated with these days. Call me Pollyanna, but I hope this painting will do the same for everyone looking at it!

KMD2824 Nature's Rhythms 7x5 floral oil by Denver, CO artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

SOLD
Another painting done from perusing my picture files that have been sitting idle for quite some time. I love the wildness and freedom that this composition represents. It is so alive and full of energy, rhythm and color contrasts. This inspires me to create a larger painting from this little gem for our fall show at Brushsstrokes!

KMD2735 Perception in Red (6x8, floral)

SOLD
With winter still coming on strong here in Denver (once again it is snowing as remnants of the last snow had almost melted off) I look into images that will bring spring closer. So, of course I reach for my familiar and favorite; poppies. This piece was inspired from a picture taken in Estes Park, Colorado where there was a full garden of these delightful red gems.

KMD2626 Springtime Wonders ( poppy, floral, garden, flower)

I am getting drawn back to the poppies as they are soon to bloom. The crabapples are fading along with the colorful tulips, lilacs are next and overlapping them are the poppies and iris. I had to jump start from a photo from our Botanic Gardens taken a few springtimes back.

KMD2554 Oh So Vibrant (floral, sunflower, garden scene, original oil painting)

SOLD
As our days are getting shorter, the colorful floral scenes are a reminder of days gone by. I am always drawn to the vibrant colors found in nature. It is always a challenge to recreate perfection!

KMD2509 Jubilant (yellow poppy, floral, landscape, original fine art)

SOLD

I have been having such fun with the abstracted landscapes
but I decided to go back to my other passion; flowers.
I really love the composition of this scene even though I no
longer remember where the photo was taken, but it probably
was shot at our Botanic Gardens here in Denver. I still strive
to go more simplified, using fewer brushstrokes,
each one applied with purpose. It is really a challenge and
keeps me from getting lazy in my painting approach.

KMD2491 Spring's Bounty (floral, poppy, garden, original fine art)

SOLD

While perusing some old photos I came across one taken in Seattle on Queen's Hill several years ago. The gardens there are so lush in that moist climate, an envy to us Coloradans, but then I prefer the sunshine and difficult growing seasons here to overcast and rain. It makes traveling to the northwest a much appreciated treasure!

KM2475 It Must be Spring (floral, poppies, garden, flowers, original oil)

SOLD
After painting for our show "Identity Theft" here at Brushstrokes Studio Gallery here in Denver I had a great desire to be with my favorite poppies. It has been a really fun challenge to paint still life and roosters but I am also getting spring fever, which means everything is starting to bloom. So, I am itching to photograph and paint more florals. Here is a beautiful scene found from last year's poppy bloom as I couldn't wait for this year's bloom which is just around the corner.

KMD2468 Sunlit Morning (floral, geranium, garden, original oil painting)

SOLD
This little sunlit morning in the garden is a painting from a photo I took while in Dallas the week before last. Anita and I had a lovely breakfast enjoying a cool, fresh spring morning feeling like we were in heaven.

KMD2444 Nature's Brilliance by Kit Hevron Mahoney (floral, garden)

SOLD

Each day that I set out to do my Daily Paintings (ok, every 3 days!) it's fun to see what inspires me. I love how the dailies allow me to jump all around in my smorgasboard of painting reference to see which excites me each day! I think the less colorful months of Jan/Feb lead me to the more colorful warm and bright colors of spring.
