KMD2378 Samantha
This is my kitty Samantha, the gentlest, sweetest little friend one could ask for. I have painted many kitties of friends and that I have photographed on my travels, but decided it was time to paint my own friend!

KMD2377 Perfect Day
Aptly named, it was a perfect day when I found this scene outside of Crested Butte near the town of Gothic. Pat and I had been wandering around the area and got caught in a thunderstorm. After is passed the sun came out lighting up the entire area that was filled with flowers and the atmospheric afternoon light.

KMD2376 The Grass is Always Greener
SOLD
This big guy, or gal came over to say hello when we stopped to photograph the perfect pastoral scene of a colorful meadow of flowers with horses grazing. Apparently what was on our side of the fence took precedence over our greeting! Obviously, I am still enamored with all the inspiration from the recent trip to Crested Butte, Colorado.

KMD2373 Road in Paradise
SOLD
This incredible scene was found outside Crested Butte in the mountains near the town of Gothic. A storm had just passed thru while we were out photographing (attempting, unsuccessfully, to catch with our cameras an award winning bolt of lightening).
It is hard to describe the rich and brilliant colors covering all the hillsides and this is my interpretation of what I saw! It was a piece of Heaven.

KMD2371 A Dream Come True
SOLD
I am back from an incredible trip to Crested Butte, Colorado which lives up to its name; The Wildflower Capital of Colorado. It seemed that any direction one looked it was an array of color and abundance of so many varieties of flowers. What a state I live in! I have a lifetime of painting inspiration from just this one trip! This scene was a field of flowers found while driving into Crested Butte.

KMD2370 Garden Bouquet
Recently I have been fortunate to be painting some dog portrait commissions and larger Colorado landscapes in the studio, so for my daily painting I chose a poppy scene to satisfy the floral passion. I really love all these subjects and can't wait to see what we'll find while visiting Crested Butte this next week. I won't be posting until I get back and will have lots of new inspirations to paint!

KMD2367 Glorious Colorado
Summertime in the Rockies! It is the most heavenly time in Colorado when all the wildflowers are blooming, the skies are blue and the air is crisp and clean.
Next week I will be in Crested Butte in search of many new wildflower scenes. It is supposed t be a glorious year for flowers from all the moisture we have had. I'll keep you posted!

KMP5020 Warm Fall Day
This little pastel painting was done en plein air in Taos, NM. It was on the path to the entry of The Hacienda de los Martinez. It was a perfect morning with strong low shadows, sun on my shoulders and a view that leaves some mystery as to where this road may lead.

KMD2365 Wandering in Rome
SOLD
While looking through my photo reference for new ideas to paint I came across this scene that I photographed while visiting Rome. It is so typical of travelers looking at a map trying to figure out where they are while being awestruck by their surroundings. That was certainly me in the magnificent city of Rome. This painting is at the entry of the Roman Forum.
