KMD2354 Spring Path

SOLD

This is one of my favorite scenes from a trip to the Cotswolds several years ago. I would never have found this area if wasn't for my great and adventurous friend Pat, who searched this area out in England and insisted we go there. What a feast of century old villages and gardens in every direction.

KMD2343 The Beach is Waiting

SOLD

With summer coming fast it reminds me of all the times I traveled to the Bahamas to visit my Dad on his island. I love the thrill of looking through a pathway seeing the beach a short distance away, just waiting for a day of sun and surf.

KMD2351 Poppies and Iris

SOLD

Spring is so in the air now. Denver is greener than I remember in a long time. This painting is from a reference at the Denver Botanic Gardens which I have visited recently and it is such a gift to our city. It has every kind of plant and flower imaginable with such a variety of wonderful settings to wander and enjoy.
With Memorial Day Weekend upon us I will not be posting for a few days as we have the 30th Annual South Gaylord St. Festival happening Sat thru Monday. I will be very occupied with my studio partners as we show our art to the huge crowds that will be attending.

KMD2350 Walking into Fall

SOLD
Even though it is spring, my most favorite time of the year, I was compelled to paint this fall scene found here in Colorado on a trail in the Maroon Bells Wilderness area. Of course, fall comes second to the seasons I love most here in Colorado. The colors in this scene were absolutely stunning with such a variety of reds, yellows, burnt oranges and yellow greens.

KMD2347 Sweet Peas on the Fence

SOLD

Did I ever mention that I love other flowers besides poppies? The sweet pea is a wonderful little flower that gives off such an incredible fragrance and grows in such a variety of colors. These were growing at the Denver Botanic Gardens and how I regret I didn't plant any this year.

KMD2346 Spring at Last

Another painting inspired from my recent trip to Taos. We visited the Mabel Dodge Luhan House where I found this wonderful scene. This is a mystical place where Georgia O’Keeffe, D.H. Lawrence, Ansel Adams, Martha Graham and Carl Jung, among many other notables stayed in thier day. It is now an historic inn and conference center.

KMD2343 Spring in Taos

SOLD
Last week I went to Taos with 6 of my old college buddies. What a hoot and a howl we had together. Spring had just begun there and it was so fresh and full of new life with all the crabapples and lilacs blooming. I forgot how much fun Taos is and how beautiful the area is, with all the adobe bathed in the New Mexico light. It is fun to have a new subject matter to focus upon!

KMD2341 Colorado Vista

SOLD
This wonderful vista is on Corona Pass in Colorado. I was there a few summers ago attending a plein air painting workshop in Winter Park. There were so many places to paint and photograph that I needed more than the 3 days to capture everything.

KM2340 Poppy Palette

This "palette" painting is a donation to be auctioned off at the 2009 Memories in the Making Art Auction for the Colorado chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. It was a joy to have the opportunity to paint for this worthy cause. If you are interested in bidding on it or attending the auction please go to their website for more information: Memories in the Making Art Auction
Meanwhile, I am off to Taos for a wild time with a bunch of old college buddies so I won't be posting until I return on Wednesday, with stories I am sure!

KMD2339 Jubilent Wonders

SOLD
I had hoped to get to California to photograph the poppies this spring but somehow I missed this year's opportunity! So here is a tribute to the California Poppy, which is such a cheerful, glowing flower and luckily they grow in more places than California!
