KMD2667 Gleaming in the Shadows (garden, floral, geraniums, flower cart)

SOLD
I couldn't resist this scene from my trip to Crested Butte. Pat and I were resting over a cup of iced coffee in a perfectly lush and restful garden provided by a coffee house in town where this cart was part of the garden and magical atmosphere. We were relaxing at the end of a hot day of photographing every wildflower in sight. (We were tired as there were flower scenes in every direction one could see and we attempted to capture them all. I'm still sorting through the pictures!

KMD2665 August View (landscape, Colorado, Colorado Vista, floral landscape)

SOLD
This is a palette knife painting of one of my favorite vistas here in Colorado; the top of Kenosha Pass. I have only seen it this vibrant one time several summers ago and luckily I shot lots of pictures to work from. I go back to this spot every year in hopes of finding such abundance of flowers and colors but nature likes to keep it different each year.

I am traveling by painting from photos taken from past adventures. This is a typical scene in Tuscany, Italy where I have been several times. It is great to have the pictures to keep the memory alive but the taste buds long for the really delicious fresh food delights that we experienced while there.

KM2661 Maroon Bells (mountains, landscape, Colorado, floral, summertime, Rocky Mountains)

SOLD
Summer in Colorado, there is nothing like it. The Maroon Bells wilderness area outside of Aspen, Colorado is a pristine place to visit and hike in. This is a grand summer view. You will see some paintings of fall as the Aspen turn into their golden hues in a few months.

KMD2663 Deep in Blue (Blue Jay, bird, animals

SOLD
I have a bird feeder that keeps me (and the squirrels) entertained every day. Although most of the birds are cheery little sparrows, we get a number of Blue Jays landing as well. I love to see them with their perky crest, and beautiful blue, white, and black plumage. Although they can be noisy, Blue Jays are known for their intelligence and complex social systems with tight family bonds.
Lately, it has been a symphony of birdsong in the mornings as though it were spring and our feeder is emptied daily. (A month ago it would hold for a week. Do they know something we don't?)

KMD2662 Enchanted Path (landscape, path, floral, garden path, garden, original oil painting)

SOLD
I had such fun painting this warm and quiet scene. I came across the photo taken several years ago in late summer at the Denver Botanic Gardens here in Denver. The gardens have changed so much that I doubt that this scene is still there other than my pictures and paintings. This shows me what a gift it is to put these moments in time on canvas.

KM2553 Washington Park Boathouse (autumn scene, landscape, waterscape, original oil painting)

I can't believe how fast the summer is going and how far behind on my daily paintings I am. The good news is that I have been busy with commissions that have taken me away from my blogging.
I painted this nostalgic scene of the Washington Park Boathouse on location last fall. It was a perfect, crisp Colorado fall morning, a gift to be able to be part of the scene and to express the scene on canvas. It doesn't get any better!
