This is my painting done for the "Grab Bag" show at Brushstrokes Fine Art Gallery here in Denver. We each put an object into a bag that was given to another artist at our studio. I got 3 cotton balls to interpret on canvas. After searching for images of cotton I came across an amazing photo of Arctic Cotton grasses in the Nunavut Canada Wilderness by photographer Tim Hauf who kindly gave me permission to use his amazing photograph. After researching, I found that these flowering plants grow throughout the arctic, subarctic and temperate portions of the Northern Hemisphere in acid bog habitats. Who would have thought that 3 cotton balls would lead to discovering new plants!!!! Love new adventures!
