"Sunsets are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were looking through the gates of Heaven." Sir John Lubbock
SOLD
How I love the sunset time of day. Here is another of Florence, Italy that mesmerized me and fellow photographer and friend Pat as we were meandering the cobblestone streets as the sun was setting over Florence and the Arno River.

KM2201 Glorious Evening
SOLD
My favorite time of day is as the sun is going down and all the world seems to become quiet and calm leaving behind the frenzy of the day. This scene was in Montana where the sunsets are vivid and the country is open and one can see for miles. I really like the distance the telephone poles add in addtion to some nostalgia.

KM3000 Summer Meadow
Here is another painting done on my little 4"x6" linen canvas panels. This scene was in North Park, Colorado a few summers ago. I am using these small panels to really practice loosening up my painting style. I am attempting to paint each 4x6 panel in as few strokes as I can, requiring a lot more focus on where I place each brushstroke, making sure my colors are just the right value and temperature before I apply them.

KM2198 Florence Evening
SOLD
This is another scene from Florence, Italy on a walk to Ponte Vecchio. The late day light was so incredible the way the sunset colors lit up the buildings beyond the archway.

KM2194 Poppy Paradise
SOLD
This is a small study that I have painted and like so much that I will be doing a large version of it as well. Sometimes I question why I keep painting poppies when nature has so many different flowers but the poppy for me is so vibrant and such a paradox of being so hardy and fragile at the same time. They are especially beautiful when growing in gardens filled with other varieties of flowers.

KM2195 Early Evening Stroll
SOLD
Here is another painting done from photos found during the clean-up of my flooded basement last week. This was taken in Florence, Italy on the street leading to Ponte Vechio. The sun was just setting leaving a colorful sunset glow on the buildings just under the archway! It was like magic being there.

KM2193 Willows in Fall
Last week we had a torrential rainfall at my house here in Denver, flooding the basement. While cleaning up the mess I came across a boxful of photographs.....something out of the past!!!! Anyway, I got really excited about my find and a change from the digital I ususally work with. I loved this piece from Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. It brings back fond memories of several trips there as well as a fun subject I forgot I had to paint!

KM2190 Blooming Ever Brilliant
Here is another beautiful little scene found on my recent trip to Crested Butte. This was on a hike outside the little town of Gothic. The Indian Paintbrush are such intense, rich, red flowers and these were enhanced more sitting next to the white trunk of the Aspen tree. I may do this one large as well.

KM2189 The Road Less Travelled
SOLD
I am always drawn to roads and paths and the mystery of what lies beyond. Here is a road that I was following in search of wildflowers but this scene was to beautiful to pass up with the greenery in the front and the road leading one off to wherever the imagination wants to go.

KM2185 Alive with Vibrance
SOLD
Once again, a trip back to the Poppy Garden. They are fun to explore in between all the other subjects that I love to paint. These are from an incredible garden found on Queen Anne's Hill in Seattle, Washington where gardens grow in wild abundance with all the moisture we don't see here in Colorado.

KM2184 Country Laundry
SOLD
I seem to be time traveling, for now I am back in England, in the Cotswolds. My friend Pat introduced me to the little village of Chipping Campden where she and I stayed a few days several years back. The town is absolutely charming and we loved wandering into the countryside as well. In wandering the outskirts of the village I found this nostalgic scene of laundry drying on the line. Why is European laundry so romantic?
