CHINA VACATION

I am on my way to China for 2 weeks of touring and painting in a workshop with Kevin MacPherson. I will be back the 2nd week of October and will be a painting fool getting ready for our show at Brushstrokes in early November. My theme will be......surprise......China!

The mission of this great organizarion is to fund and assist indigenous Sudanese organizations and communities that create educational infrastructure in rural southern Sudan. They support the building of primary and secondary schools, as well as adult education and teacher training.

To help generate funds for these endeavors Project Education Sudan invites a talented group of artists to paint works of art depicting life in the Sudan. This years exhibition and auction is being held on

Pat and I loved this scene with the early morning light reflecting shadow off the fence onto a meadow filled with a rainbows of flowers. We went to photograph it two mornings in a row because it was so beautiful. This was Crested Butte, Colorado.

KMD2391 Pathway to the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds are such a charming region in England. Located in the upper part of the southwest region of England the Cotwolds are the country's largest officially designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The area is well known for gentle hillsides (‘wolds’) and charming limestone villages. I found the subject of this painting while wandering the pathways around Chipping Camden.

When I visited Paris for the first time we had the perfect fall weather and photo opportunities with small rain showers intermittently passing over followed by the sun throughout the day. It was a feast for the eyes and very expensive as I was there before the advent of digital and spent a fortune on film!!!

Taos, New Mexico scenes are so enticing with the contrast of the turquoise doors, windows and gates to the adobe walls. Turquoise itself is interesting as far as its uses for instance, it has a long standing history of over a 1000 years with Native Americans who have used it extensively for protection and healing.

This incredible scene was found outside Crested Butte in the mountains near the town of Gothic. A storm had just passed thru while we were out photographing (attempting, unsuccessfully, to catch with our cameras an award winning bolt of lightening).
It is hard to describe the rich and brilliant colors covering all the hillsides and this is my interpretation of what I saw! It was a piece of Heaven.

I am back from an incredible trip to Crested Butte, Colorado which lives up to its name; The Wildflower Capital of Colorado. It seemed that any direction one looked it was an array of color and abundance of so many varieties of flowers. What a state I live in! The title of this painting is a description of how I felt a few weeks ago while wandering on a cool, crisp spring morning. I have gone to to this street every spring for years and it is like stepping into the country side as most of the homes are on several wooded acres. This scene is one of the few that is the same every year when I return. It was this bright in the morning light!
