I finally got back to the easel this week after returning from my trip to Kauai. I photographed this little fellow in between rain showers while getting a tour of the beautiful island. I discovered that this Red Crested Cardinal is also known as the Brazilian Cardinal and it was introduced around 1930 from South America. They move very quickly making it a challenge to get a good photo. I was happy to get this pose to paint.

While sorting through my London paintings for pictures of the red phone booths I came across this scene that really appealed to me for a daily painting. I think I might have to find more of these wonderful scenes as not only are they fun to paint but I get to relive my travels as well.
