KM2897 Sacred Shadows by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (48x36 original oil landscape, abstract, aspen)

SOLD
Where does one start after such a hiatus since my last posting that it is hard to know where to start. The good news is that I was swamped with several commissions including 5 abstract paintings for Eye Care Associates in Fort Collins, CO and one floral oil painting for the Arapahoe reception area of Kaiser Permanente in Denver, CO. They were all large pieces and I had a great time painting them. Hopefully, now I will be able to settle down to do some more small daily paintings in addition to the paintings I am starting for our next show here at Brushstrokes. This is a painting I have always wanted to do but never took the time to tackle and am really happy with the results.

KMD2895 Keenly Awaiting by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (7x5 original oil landscape)

SOLD
While searching my reference files I came across this nostalgic scene that jumped out and spoke to me to paint. As I was painting it, my studio partner Anita commented "didn't you paint that once before?" In looking back through my many Daily Paintings, sure enough, I had painted it several years ago. But then, this is the person that has been know to buy the same book twice and discover part way into the book that I have already read it!!!!! It is fun to paint a scene again to see how it compares to how I approached it many years ago.

KM2896 Toast the Town by Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (6x8 ,abstract, urban, San Francisco, original oil)

SOLD
Weekend before last I went to San Francisco with my great friends Connie and Pat. We had the most memorable, fun an crazy times with good friends of theirs who live there. It is a weekend that will go down as top of my list of good times. I created this painting from a picture taken of sunset over San Francisco from the condo where we stayed. I had such a great time painting this with the freedom and abandon I felt throughout our visit. I hope this will translate into more of my work.

KM2419 Washington Park Boathouse (landscape, Denver, CO, lake, original oil)

This painting was done "plein air" at Washington Park here in Denver, Colorado. The boathouse in this painting is an historic landmark that was built in 1913. In winter, it served as a warming house for ice skaters. It is located on Smith Lake and has a two-story lakefront façade and an open pavilion over enclosed boat storage. Currently, in the summer, boats are rented out from the boathouse to paddle around and enjoy beautiful views around the lake.
