I am finally in the process of creating a series of abstract paintings based on natural forms found in nature. This series is inspired from my latest trip to Kauai where I photographed some exquisite close ups from the bark of a Eucalyptus tree. The colors and patterns thrilled me as I looked through the camera and even more as I paint my interpretation on canvas.

This is one of my mixed media pieces that I have had such fun creating. This particular piece has a poly resin pour on top giving it a a luminous look with the colors just singing. The dominant color in this is turquoise which I am partial to as it lets my imagination take me to far away waters or into the sky. This was created with no reference and totally from intuition.

I am so excited to introduce my newest creation of an oil abstract mounted on brushed copper. The original abstract oil is mounted and raised out from the aluminum and ready for hanging. This is one of a series that I plan to sell at the Summer Art Market in June at the Art Student's League of Denver. They are more handsome in person as it is difficult to photograph the subtle variations of the brushed copper frame that enhances the oil painting when the light hits it.

This painting is a mixture of my representational and abstract styles. It is a rich mixture of textures created using a palette knife with some brush work. I have painted it for our 10th Anniversary Show at Brushstrokes on April 27. It has been really busy here as I get ready for the Brushstrokes show and the Colorado Governor's Invitational Art Show and Sale that opens on April 28th. Guess I won't be taking any weekends off for this month!

It has been crazy keeping up with my regular gallery business which has taken me away from my internet business, but I am not complaining as it is all good! This painting is one I am thinking about using in the Colorado Governor's Invitational held next month in Loveland, CO. I am so grateful it is spring, the days are longer and I am savoring the sweet scent of new spring flowers when I walk Farley.
