We screeched to a stop when we saw the most amazing morning light on the fall blooming Rabbit Brush with the blue, blue mountains and sky in the distance. We photographed every square inch of this beautiful scene!

There are so many fun paintings to be done from all the travels I have photographed that it is hard to choose. As spring seems so late this year I am sure I responded to the intense color and beauty of this scene near Gothic outside of Crested Butte during the wildflower season. Sometimes I wonder if anyone who has not seen this scene can believe it is really this colorful, but indeed it is.

This painting is one I have wanted to do for a couple of years. The scene is from a trip to Crested Butte, Colorado during their wildflower season in July. It is magnificent and hard to believe the feast before your eyes see in the varieties of flowers, colors and subjects to photograph and paint. One of my latest representational works in anticipation of springtime. Spring is my most favorite season (if it ever gets here in Denver, although I am not complaining as we desperately need all the moisture from the snow storms). I can't wait for the progression of blooms that are coming, from the first brave crocus, onward to tulips and daffodils, crabapples, lilacs and then my favorite poppies. This time of year is so fresh and full of hope with all the new life coming forth.

As I look around my gallery I see that most of my florals are gone and I need to replace my many fall paintings with the excitement of spring. This is one I have created inspired from my spring journey to the Texas Hill Country.
